Bio
It is through painting that I explore my own nature. The intrinsic wholeness embedded in my relationship to nature which I both embody, and am embodied by, become apparent. I follow color, forms, and images as they emerge and guide. It is an intuitive process that combines these elements sourced from memory and a semi-automatistic process. This often leads to something new being revealed and to a deeper personal understanding and/or a new direction to explore.
My work is driven by a deep sorrow regarding the human impact and destruction of life on this planet. My earlier work explored themes of climate change and extreme weather events. I then moved into work that took this theme into a future when people are no longer here. In these imagined landscapes I engaged the notion of earth's eventual regeneration.
My current work is the beginning of a new direction. The ideas are not fully formed but notions of time, memory, the body, inner spaces, ambiguity, and the place where dichotomies come into contact are in the forefront. I consider these to be landscapes of a different sort.
